@MortenCopenhagen I remember when Google Maps allowed Photo app as inbuilt editing and it’s filter too. I liked those filters, edited images looked good in mobile and had good success rate at maps even got featured too. But from quite some time, Google has been pretty firm about uploading stuff as is devoid of filters and editing. Even that inbuilt editing via Google photo app is not allowed now. Like in comment section one of the LGs said it’s painful to see blurry and bad shot being featured while best pics lying down at bottom of the POI.
I’m not sure about Google Maps has become pickier and avoids more processed images. I keep a Google Photos album with all the images that I tried uploading to Google Maps twice to no avail. And I don’t see the percentage of rejected images going up over the last 2-3 years. Feel free to browse my rejected album here.
Please share more details and some examples of this.
Within the last month or so I have noticed that Google will show a (sometimes pretty much irrelevant) street view first and not my “much better” images. This is limited to new places I just added. This is one such example. Hopefully, this will change over time.
I don’t recall being able to edit photos from inside Google Maps with other apps than Google Photos. This would be interesting.
All the best and thanks
Morten
@MortenCopenhagen Both things very interesting the rejected album and POI with street view images only but congrats at least you got one image there uploaded 3 days ago. I remember one POI where I uploaded almost 10 photos but when I checked later I could only see street view image but none of the photos that I added. I didn’t know where did they go.
I just checked the inbuilt editing is possible with Google one editing filters etc ( I will try it in few days)
Morten, in some mobile you have great inbuilt gallery editing option where images get good edits and replace orignal once if needed so you can publish the edited images at once than editing each one individually. Before publishing you can edit image in any app you want then upload it. In India, I have noticed people have uploaded so much of off topic stuff and Google AI doesn’t seem to work here. From tik tok, YouTube to game videos etc.
Hello @MortenCopenhagen ,
I always look forward to your guiding posts. This is one of them. This provides great learning about acceptable photo editing using Google Photo.
Post edit your photographs became more vibrant and clear. I do not think that these photos fall under over edit category rather they are more appropriate.
Thanks for sharing the tips.
The light does help them pop, but the average consumer can rarely tell the difference. Often times i put 2 or three pic’s on and the best always seem to get the most views.
Thanks for sharing.
@Dan-McCurry1000 Recently I’ve been trying to upload just one photo, so it’s up to me to guess which one is really best if I take two or three.
