Very Confusing.
When we will go somewhere we will open Google Maps to help find it, especially we have never visited it before. But what happens if we are even confused by the search results on Google Maps that display the same 2 places with different locations? Moreover, the distance is very far? Which one is true?
Well, the role of Local Guides is needed here to edit by reporting one place that is not in accordance with its original conditions. Find information about the truth of the place by visiting it directly and asking people around to make sure. That way people will get accurate information and Google Maps will get better. But how?
It is Very Easy!
If you find 2 similar places with different locations, please report one by clicking on the wrong place (make sure you know the actual location). Click the “Suggest an edit” button.
I hope these tips can help you all (I think you already know, hehehe) but it doesn’t matter, I just remind you. As local guides, our contribution is highly expected for better information in Google Maps. Thanks for reading. Don’t forget to give responses and comments about this.
@hanggerputro Thank you for the guide. Yes, duplicate listings are becoming a severe problem on maps day by day. I’m starting to see more duplicate listings as more people are contributing. They don’t understand the necessity of checking if the place is already on the map. I think when adding a place map should be more aggressive showing listings with similar names.
@SaifIS Very annoying. I think the new contributors are only pursuing points without regard to whether the information he entered is true or not.
before adding a new place, find out the actual information first.
I agree with you sir @BudiFXW , your advice is very helpful. we must know the facts by checking it. I usually correct the place closest to where I live, so I know the exact condition.
@hanggerputro I do not agree with this. I think they mostly do it as they do not understand it well. They should be informed well how to contribute. But in a crowdsourcing platform this happens and local guides you and me are here to reduce this problem. Now map started showing possible duplicates so we can review before adding a new place. This is a good thing.
ok, thank you, @SaifIS , but it could happen. hhe. the most important thing now is that we also play a role in justifying what’s gone wrong on google maps. it’s part of our responsibility as local guides to provide correct information on this large platform.
