In our daily life, we all know the way how to go to work/school or way back to our home. But sooner or later, we will leave all the things behind and hop in car to go to travel to somewhere we never been to just for relaxing or simply to living our life. For this reason, Google Map become on of our best friend on the way we go.
For me, Google Map is more than just a friend, it becomes my partner on my way to discover to unknown places. Whenever I traveling, I prefer to wandering around the city/town/place where I stay rather than go with the flow, to the most famous attractive places of the area. I use not only map but also Gmaps to make sure I’ll not miss any interesting places that we’ll never know if we not experience it by ourselves. The thing I love to do the most is to correct information of the places and report about the roads. I follow every small paths and while wandering around, I taking pictures of the places and upload it to Google Map to make sure the other travelers just like me can know exactly the places they are going to.
Sometimes, Gmaps leads me to the rice fields where there is no path to go through or I have to cross a river to follow the instruction on the map although it appeared I only need to stay on the way and drive. I know this is not Gmap fault, it’s just because the uploaded information is not corrected and, instead of getting angry, I know it’s much more better if I send a report to Google Map team and hope they will correct the information before other travelers get into the same situation just like me.
Not only that, I also find all the small paths that not appeared on Google Map yet and add it into the map because I like the feeling when I suddenly find out a shortcut to the place I want to go and enjoy the sightseeing on the path. It’s not only help me to go faster but also help other travelers as well when the new road or missing road appear on Google Map.
Sending report about dead end cost me no more than 5 minutes and if I’m not doing it, there will be someone get into it and waste their time just like me. So I’m having faith in the community work that each person will help to correct a piece of information and when everybody in the same community do the same, we will got the whole perfect map that no one will be lead into dead end or river just like my case.
I always believe that the correct instruction on Google Map when I set a destination to somewhere is not a job of one person but it’s the power of community work. I don’t want to be a person who just use the help of others and not giving any helps back to the community, this is the reason and also my motivation to going around, taking pictures and report missing road every times I go travel or have business trip to somewhere I’ve never been to.
