Madu Ganga ( River) Sri Lanka

A lone fisherman paddles his catamaran early in the morning, towards the fresh water prawn trap made out of bamboo.

Madu Ganga meets the sea at Balapitiya a coastal town south to Colombo and close to Galle, a famous Dutch heritage town

( Ganga = River in majority mother tounge " Sinhala ")

Village folks set the fresh water trap in the river with the bambo strips. The fence block and direct the prawns towards the trap in the middle. The fishermen light a lamp in th strap in the night to lure the prawns directed by the fence. They collect the catchment early next morning.

Hi @Prasanna-Aryaprema ,

Thanks so much for sharing these photos and the story that goes with them. While looking at your post I thought of this other great topic by @StephenAbraham , Visiting the Chinese Fishing Nets in Fort Kochi, Kerala, India [360 Video]. You can take a look.

See you around!
