Macy July 4th (on US Independency day) is world known for its fireworks extravaganza and probably does not need mention to any New Yorker. Its a full 30 minutes of fireworks on East River in NYC and you can watch it from anywhere - 23rd to 40th street.
Sharing the moments I captured myself last year (2018) with all enthusiasts.
Things to know:
-
Be there early if you want to avoid crowd and get positioned in front rows
-
Plane for at least 2/3 hours (including settling in, fireworks, and getting out)
-
Carry water/snacks with you as you will be there for an hour or two
-
Avenue corning East River is totally packed and moving out in middle of fireworks is going to be extremely difficult.
-
Federal Security forces are all around the place, so feel comfortable and safe.
