On your next trip to Japan, you may want to splurge a little. Go ahead, check your wallet……( pause ). Now, ask yourself if paying $25 for a bowl of ramen is worth it for you.
In most cases the answer would be “no” for some of you, and I agree with you. In the post, I will introduce one of the most expensive ramen noodles in the world at a little noodle boutique in the Ginza right here.
The name of the shop is called Menyo Maishi and it’s a fish broth based ramen.
Typically, many ramen dishes are pork or chicken bone based with soft tender chards of meat, and perfectly prepared noodles. An average bowl will cost you around 700 yen / $7 per bowl. To date, there are over 10,000 ramen shops in Japan! < = Mind blowing.
A few famous ones:
Ichiran, Ippudo, Arisen ramen, and so on….
What is an expensive bowl of ramen consist of? In the case of Maishi Manya, it would be the fish broth and seafood. Notably, the high-end sea urchin caught fresh in Hokkaido, a highly prized delicacy in Japan, or the sea bream, a ceremonial fish associated with sumo.
In this ramen, a sea bream broth is used as the base and special whitewheat noodles that blends perfectly well together with the sea bream soup.
Hi, @user_not_found
Wow, I have never eaten such expensive ramen in my region. Recently, such expensive ramen shops are gradually increasing.
In Japan, there are a lot of ramen shops and a lot of kinds of ramen. So we; ramen manias are searching for a new one day by day. This is an interesting situation but I need to try more cheap and famous bowls before trying unique bowls, haha.
Uni ramen itself is popular in the coastal side area in Tohoku area. Someday try to eat them:-)
I completely agree with you. The cheap bowls are good, too! I even love cup ramen. My favourite is the seafood cup ramen at the convenience store. 200 yen…I think. There is another place in Otemachi that has a Michelin starred ramen shop. I may post it next time.
@user_not_found Wow, $25! That is so expensive. It looks yummy. I so agree with you that Ramen is perfect for winter. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Hi @user_not_found .This is very strange food to me. I can realize what is going in this post. To tell you the truth I don’t know so far what Ramen is !?
Thank you for your comment. The ramen is a bowl of hot soup broth with noodles that is enjoyed with various toppings. Originating in China, perfected in Japan. Do you have a noodle dish in your country?
