I tried searching that serve good Hyderabadi food cooked in the traditional way, and that is when my search ended at Jewel of Nizam – The Minar.
This place is situated in a resort outside the city next to a lake with no big building in near vicinity. I had booked a table for a Dinner for 2 (My Wife and I). When I reached there it looked like a typical resort, upon giving my car to the valet and walking towards the tower I was feeling like a walking in a royal garden. Even though the walkway was not that cinematic but it was enough lighting to guide you in the night.
When we entered the lobby of the tower there it was beautifully decked up giving you a feeling that you are in a living room of a palace. We were told to wait for few minutes then escorted to the elevator. When we reached “The Restaurant” that is when I realized that it was not an elevator but a time machine that was taking us back in time to royalty and elegance.
As we arrived we were made comfortable at the table and first thing that I saw was the view of the city. Since we were away from the city the lights of the city were looking beautiful. The next thing that caught my eyes was the cutlery and crockery that was present on the table, clearly shouting that “This just for you Your Majesty”.
Being at such a beautiful venue it would be ideal to try a variety of food than going for Ala-Carte and trying for just a couple of them, so we preferred ordering their Pre-Set Menu which they call it Dawat – E – Sagarmahal. It was started by a welcome drink (Made with a combination of Musk Melon and Papaya) something very unique for me to try, followed by soup and then starters. The staff were very patient in service and they were never in hurry to serve us fast and so that some else can occupy the tables after we leave.
When we moved to main course that is when I was feeling that a king was having his meal, there were curries that were served in 5 different bowls for each person, along with breads of our choice. This was followed by a yummy Hyderabad Biryani (Vegetarian). Then came deserts, they could have easily served us ice cream but here they made sure that only serve us traditional Nizam sweets that tingle our taste pallets.
