An unauthorized and unsolicited public service announcement for AdamGT
A lot of us have been there. We’ve just looked at a simply amazing star photo. Or now a star video or 360. You are so excited and you can’t wait to tell the LG how much you like their star or ask them a question about it. So what do you do? Naturally you are ready to click the reply button….BUT NO, NO, NO, Don’t click that Reply button my friend.
As a repeat offender I am writing this post as a community service for my transgressions.
I want to do you and AdamGT a favor. Adam has created these great places for us to share our stars. In the instructions he clearly explains the format he wants for the album and has created the Discussion on the Local Guides, 2023 Star Photos, Videos & 360 Spheres as a place for us to post our praise, kudos, and questions.
I know from personal experience that, in the heat of our excitement about an image, it is just second nature to click the like button and then the Reply button. Like it! Absolutely. Reply to the star image post- NO, NO, NO.
You ask, so how am I supposed to heap praise upon this amazing LG we have discovered. Adam clearly explains the process, but it is oh so easy to forget.
Just in case you have forgotten the process (when did you last read all of the star album instructions) or haven’t mastered it, I want to review the process.
The process is the same for all three Star Albums. It is also much much easier to do on a desktop.
I have created two screen recordings of the two step process for doing this on an Android phone (if you have an iPhone you are on your own).
Adding links to a Connect post using an Android phone
Below is a description of the process
For this process you need the “handle” or tag or name of the person that you want to send a reply to. In the star albums the post shows the guide’s tag without the “@” at the beginning. In this case let’s say it is me. Make note of my name as it is shown on the post: Rednewt74. At the bottom of the Star post that you are so excited about, go ahead and click the heart button which will let the guide know you like it, even if you don’t send them a comment.
At the bottom of the post you will also see the … icon.
Left click this button/icon and you will get a drop down menu.
On the “Permalink” item Right click and you will get another drop down (or pop up) menu
On this menu, left click on the “copy link address” item.
At this point your work here is done.
Now what you need to do is make your way to the Discussion on the Local Guides, 2023 Star Photos, Videos & 360 Spheres .
You can use this link I just added, but of course you won’t be in this post to copy it.
So, then what? If you like and use shortcuts in your browser, go to the star discussion post, go to the last page (currently it is page 21) and save this page as a shortcut. By saving a link to the last page, it will be faster and easier to navigate to where you can post a reply.
Or you can search in connect for the star discussion post and get to that way.
If you are on a desktop, I suggest that either you open a new tab or duplicate the tab you have open for the star album, and then search or use a shortcut on this new page.
That way you can still easily switch back and forth so you can see the star image while you write your comment.
So once you are sure you are in the Discussion on the Local Guides, 2023 Star Photos, Videos & 360 Spheres you can click on reply and start your comment. The first thing is to tag the guide whose image you want to heap praise upon (surely, you want them to read what you write?) If you don’t tag a guide you are writing about, they will not get a notice that you have posted something about them.
This is the slightly annoying part. There isn’t an easy way to copy and paste a guide’s handle. So you need to start typing with a “@” and then slowly the name from the note that you made. So in this case it would be R e d n e w t 7 4 (DO NOT include spaces, they are just there to indicate that you need to type slowly). Eventually the guide’s handle/tag will display and you left click it to select it.
Now the hard part is done. Write your glowing praise and astute questions and take pleasure in a job well done. If you know another guide that you think would be interested in your comment, tag them the same way somewhere in the post. Posts can be edited if need be after you have saved them.
This permalink method allows you to create links to any post that you want to refer to. It is a huge help to write a post like this:
”I was reading a post by @Rednewt74 where he talks about blah blah”, so that the Guides that are reading your post can easily go to the post you are referring to and read it as well. I have found countless really informative posts because the guide making the post that I was reading included a link to the post that originally inspired them.
And just one more thing, if you are having a discussion with Adamgt or he has tagged you in a post and you want to respond directly to him, by all means tag him.
But if you are just referring to something he has posted, please consider referring to him without tagging him and simply add the link to the post you are referencing.
In closing:
look and like 2023 Album of Star Videos
Or 2023 Album of Star 360 Spheres
And post all comments, replies and questions Discussion on the Local Guides, 2023 Star Photos, Videos & 360 Spheres:
