Anybody out there in the Louisville, KY area? I have lived in and around Louisville most of my life but haven’t really seen any of the sites and would enjoy finding some new places to adventure to.
Any fun places nearby?

I’ve lived here nearly all my life as well. There’s LOT of fun in this area, but it all depends on what you’re into. 4th st. Live is an obvious choice, but it’s pretty standard nightclub fare. There’s lot of agritourism in both the outskirts of Louisville and Indiana. More wineries than you could know what to do with as well!
I am in Louisvile. Transplant from Victoria Bc Canada.
I am local, tried and true. I can give advice on restaurants, bars, concert venues, local shopping and services. I am always looking to share my experiences around the great city of Louisville and Kentuckiana. Always looking for referra**ls, as well. I am a local musician, DJ and man about town.
Louisville native, recently returned to the area after 20 years away (mostly in San Francisco). This has really turned into a nice town imho. A few favorites:
NULU: great restaurants and eclectic shops down East Market (Garage Bar, Harvest, and Royals are favs).
Frankfort Avenue: excellent stretch of shops and restaurants, down past the school for the blind and water company reservoir. The Irish Rover, Craft House and Silver Dollar are tops.
Louisville Palace and Mercury Ballroom: Great venues on south 4th street (away from the 4th street live crap). The Palace does a summer Hitchcock festival and great bands, Mercury is a more modern place with a nice bar.
Bats Baseball: Louisville has a farm team that plays in a great stadium (Slugger Field) - super cheap tix, lots of fun
Museums: Slugger museum (GIANT BAT), KY Science Center, Frazier Museum, Evan Williams Experience all within a few blocks
Local events: Nulu festival is in October (see above), MakerFaire is September, IdeaFestival is September, Ky Derby festival (3 weeks of awesome) in April. Lots of local art fairs, food festivals, beer and bourbon festivals, etc.
Net is, plenty to do but still a low-key town at heart. Enjoy!
I’m from Chicago, but I’m in Louisville now. If you go to your events page on Fb you will see lots of interesting things to get into. Louisville also has an awesome free newsletter called Leo that lists events around town. My first stop was Iroquois Park it has great trails. But Central, Shawnee, and Cherokee have their own brand of awesome sauce so check them out too
Hi! Just joined the Local Guides community here in Louisville and wanted to introduce myself. : )
Hi, I wanted to introduce myself as well. I moved to Louisville from New Jersey in 2001. I’ve been a regular contributor for the last year since I bought an android phone. Should we have a meetup of local guides?
-Hotel 21c has a modern art gallery that is a must see, free admission and you don’t have to be a guest at the hotel.
-The Big Four pedestrian bridge.
-NuLu district.
-The Highlands neighborhood is the center of Louisville Nightlife, shops and boutiques, and one incredible restaurant after the other.
As far as upcoming events do502.com is a great resource as well.
Was there anything in particular you were looking for?
I moved here recently from Florida. Some things are the same but other things are completely different. I’m still trying to get used to it even though I’ve been here a couple months. Anyone know the best local owned restaurants near Shelbyville area or anywhere in Louisville really (downtown too).

I would love to meet and learn more from you and the Louisville Guides program.
I do a photo walk every First Friday Downtown and hit all the galleries. You are welcome to join me any time! Maybe we can make it a group thing?
That sounds like a lot of fun. I’m down.

What time? I’m down for a group thing
I shoot all day downtown but most people hit the hop around 6 or so? What time do you think would be good for everyone?
I was thinking around 6 maybe? That is when most of the galleries open up.
Around 6pm sounds good to me. Where do you usually start?
In Nulu at Zephyr Gallery
