Hi @Slammm looking at your photos, I would suggest that you are likely having duplicates and near duplicates made private. To avoid this

  • avoid sharing same/similar images
  • avoid sharing the same image to more than one place
  • when there are duplicate Maps entries for a place, report one as a duplicate - don’t make it worse by adding your photo and review

Hello @Slammm

I suggest you check the setting of Maps History and nothing else but “Auto delete off”. That will prevent a similar loss of points in future.

Nevertheless, the lost points can not be recovered. However, you can see whether any questions are ready in the “Answer questions” option in the contribute menu. Through that, you can gain some lost points.

Here is a link to the settings that @C_T mentioned :

Please visit this link and make sure that you have selected “Keeping activity until you delete it manually”.

You were right, I selected “delete history automatically after 3 month” when Google offered it to me in last email. There was no warning about this anywhere and I didn’t know that this suggestion will cause to lose points.

After such losses, the desire to continue using Local Guides disappears.

Thanks for the clarification @Slammm

I find you are new on Connect. Otherwise, an article here explained the downside of deleting app history.

A privacy-conscious person is most likely to opt for deletion of the app history thus inadvertently opting for loss of points.

Nevertheless, one should not feel frustrated about that learning.

Please note, our contributions help the community to a great extent.

There are many ways to contribute. Detecting duplicate or fake places, checking updates suggested by other LGs and discovering the missing info, these are some of the less used ways to do so.

Further, I learn you are from a non-English speaking zone. Detecting and correcting the errors in the automatic translation of POI names into the local language or adding the missing ones can be another useful means.

Through these, you can recover the loss of points very soon.

Hi,

I have the same issue, and I have also activated the option to delete activities older than 3 months.

What is stranged is it seems it delete only the points coming from the answer to question (I have 99 answers, I think I was around 3000)

First of all, greetings to everyone. I am also new and I have come to the community for the same problem: I lost 1000 points in July because my answers have disappeared but, in my case, I do not have the privacy option activated nor any option to forget that content. They have simply disappeared without further reason or explanation. And it is frustrating and discourages me too to continue contributing such an extent that now what I want is to delete all my content.

This was spot on I think I made a change the other day and lost about 10K points but I am still a Level 8. I had to dig really deep but finally found this answer. Thank you so much!

I think the warning about what happens when you delete history could be better. Cetainly would not have done that. 6,000 points and one level LOST. I agree with Slammm. It makes going forward seem pointless.
