Hi,
This morning I discover my account downdgraded from level 8 to level 7 and I lost around 6930 points.
If I check, I can see I have now only 339 answers and before I had more than 1500
How can I know the reason of this ?

This depends of your setting for Google’s My Activity . Please read: How do I delete my answers to questions on Google Maps?
If on My Activity your setting is different from this one here below, your answer are automatically deleted and the points not given.
The reason is that your answers are linked to your profile. Removing the link, that is made by Your Web and App activity, means that Google cannot keep track of the answer anymore. This function has been inserted to comply with the rules about privacy. Unfortunately once removed, it is not possible to have the answers back.
However, if your history is ON, you will probably receive all the questions again

Yes it is true, I deleted all my chrome history older than 3 month and activated the automatic deletation each 3 month.
It is realy a pity that googlemap answerd are linked to this web historical, I reactivated it without automatic deletation and now I will wait to answer again and win back my losed point to catch again level 8

I do perfectly understand your feelings @yann240 .
What I suggest to everyone is always to read the Help page time by time, because sometimes Google have to make a change to comply with new laws and rules.
There was a long debate in EU abuse GDPR and privacy, but the implications are frequently not understood.

How do I get help with my account? I went down from nearly 15,000 points to 9,600 points without explanation.
Please advise as to why. I work hard on this and don’t want to go backwards.

Hi everyone!
I was so excited to get to level 6 a couple months ago, but checked my points today and I’ve lost over 600 and I don’t know why. So now I’m back at level 5 and am just really bummed out! In my January summary email it still showed level 6.I definitely haven’t violated any rules, and it doesn’t look like any photos of mine have been removed. Can anyone help?

@Marissa-h did a lot of those points come from answering questions? Then it might be related to your settings on automatic deletion of your history. Please check this post for more details.

Please note that points loss might occur for several reasons. Please check in advance if you have marked your contributions as private. Additionally, some of your contributions may be marked private if they do not adhere to our Maps User Contributed Content Policy (reviews, photos and videos). This results in a points loss. Please take some time to check your contributions and check what has been marked as private.
By the way there are a few updates to how your answers to questions about places on Google Maps are stored and how you need to enable a setting to answer future questions:
- You must enable general activity in My Activity to answer questions about places on Google Maps.
- Any answers submitted when this setting was disabled may be removed, and as a result, your Local Guides points will be removed for those contributions.
- When you visit My Activity, you will be able to see answers you shared and control what is saved.
- If you delete a specific answer, or if you delete the activity for the day, or have the 3 month / 18 month deletion enabled, it will delete those answers.
- If you delete answers to questions during any time frame, your answers will be deleted from Google Maps, and as a result, your Local Guides points will be removed for those contributions.
To keep Connect organized I will merge your post to a thread where this has been discussed.

Regarding your issue, please note that it will take up to a week to update the data of the badges. in any case, the place added by you will be counted in “Places added”, not in Edits.
I see in your profile that you have 979 edits attributed, but only 96 are counted in the badge. How many of your edits are related to dish names? I think dish names are not counted for the Fact Finder badge

Seems there is something like the year 2000 problem ((it was a problem with 2 digits instead of 4) in local guides!
After having lost a lot of points over night and lost one level, I realized that it is said: 8 questions answered.
But I have 1008 questions answered.
How can this problem be solved?

Sorry about your issue. This is most probably an issue related to your settings
The reason for having the “answers” disappearing in your profile, is probably related of your setting for Google’s My Activity . Please read: How do I delete my answers to questions on Google Maps?
If on My Activity your setting is different from this one here below, your answer are automatically deleted and the points not given. The setting of My Activity is designed for giving the possibility to the users to remove every track of what you do with your account.
As the points are related to your profile, removing the association between answers and profile will consequently also remove the points.

Sorry for the misunderstandings. I do not mean questions answered from others, I mean questions from google (is there a public toilet, is it fine for handicapped peopel, …). I answered 1008, but only 8 are mentionned in my list and I lost points for 1000 answers

As you can read in the article i shared with you, one of the requisite is to “Make sure that your Web & App Activity is on.”, otherwise, as I already explained, your contributions will be deleted according to your settings
