Is there any way I could get it back?? 
I had it for years and of course on my big major vacation I lost it.

The Japanese people are very honest @squidboy I suggest you follow the suggestion of @HiroyukiTakisawa and if found and seen as valuable it’s likely to have been handed in.
Of course Japan is also extremely tidy and unfortunately that may mean it ended up in the rubbish.
