Lost in Nairobi, discovering google quides.

My name is faith from Kenya. Nairobi is the capital city and one time last year I was new and working there. My mother had warned me not to ask anyone for directions if am not sure of where I was going so I stuck to the same steps daily. One day I decided to look around town so I walk along the street , beat along the corners then I realised I was going around the same same building, ooh what a waste of energy! I was scared to ask. The next time I dicided am not taking corners so I went straight along Tom mboya street taking one corner at a time until I found myself at the outskirts of the city but alas! Kigomba market, I was soo worried, everyone was staring at me like a snack. I was at the backstreets known for robbers so I couldn’t remove my phone from the pocket. I approached a kiosk and asked some lady where I could take a matatu. I took the route but unfortunately I got more lost but atleast I was out of sight from the suspicious looking people so I fished out my phone and chenked on Google maps the directions and traced my way back. Luckily for me, I found a matatu along the way and arrive home safely.

That evening as i a was scrolling through maps, I somehow found out that I can also contribute something to help improve maps. Since I do field sales, my work involves travelling and most of the time I eat and sleep out so reviewing and posting pictures of places I have visited which mostly includes supermarkets, hotels and leisure places sometimes, has been my greatest pleasure here.

What motivated me even more is when I started earning points then badges then last year an invitation to attend Google connect 2018 that I did not manage to apply. Am soo excited to be part of this community and am looking forward to organising my first connectkenya.
