Lost Bus Stops in Italy

Hello Travel Fans!

My name is Zoltan, i’m obsessed with maps since my childhood. My orientation skills are very good. I would like to help those who do not find themselves as tourists or guests in a foreign place. How? With information.

In my favorite country, Italy, especially in the south, traveling withour car can be a greater adventure that man wants. There are more railway company within a region, but in the case of long-distance buses the chaos begins. With a little exaggeration there is a bus company in the neighborhood of every city. Calabria and Sicilia are the craziest region from this point of view. The tourist don’t know, which city in what way can be reached if there is no railway nearby.

Another problem: in the south many bus stops are not marked at all. The locals know where the bus stops, the guest can guess it… There is some bus company without website, and the timetable is often only a “recommendation”. Don’t panic, the locals are helpful if the tourist is in trouble. But is that enough?

I watched the routes here a lot, i marked the missing bus stops, i have often deduced their place. I found a website with a list of bus companies, what is a big help, but almost nobody knows this site. This takes of a lot of time, but… i like it very much! One more “fermata bus” (=bus stop) on the map, one smile by me.

Another trouble, but here i can’t help: the trains and buses often stops very, very far from the village centre. Okay, trains are connected to the rail, but the buses… Why?

Thank you for the reading,

best regards:

Zoltan from Hungary
