Lost 2,000 points from answered questions

Hey there.

I recently hit level 10, which was nice. A few days later, I went from around 100,000 points to just under 97,800 or so, which kind of sucks.

I answer questions for every place I’ve visited and keep my Timeline accurate. As of reaching level 10, I’d answered questions for around 1,550 or so different places. After the points drop, I checked and this now stands at just over 1,400

The amount of reviews and photos I’ve submitted doesn’t seem to have changed, so I suppose it’s mostly down to answered questions. I imagine anti-spam systems check on contributions, but I don’t see how answering questions about places would lead to such a large reduction in points or be deemed spammy. The system asks if I can answer a question and I do so.

Help would be appreciated, as I care about stats and would like my numbers back where they were. I was looking to try reach contributions to 2,000 places within the next six months or so and this feels like the system is discouraging me from contributing. Thanks.

Edit for clarity: I’m aware of the activity controls and nothing on my account is set to periodically delete.

No, you can’t reverse the damage now @Trent365

However, change the settings to retain your web and app activities forever instead of deleting them periodically.

I’m aware of the activity controls and I don’t have anything on this account set to delete automatically. This isn’t what’s happened here. It wouldn’t have happened in the past either, as I actually like Google collecting data on me. It’s generally used to power features I like, so it would take a lot for me to willingly delete data. Periodically or otherwise.

@Trent365 I wish I knew how or why that happens, but I have nothing to help. However, if it makes you feel better - I’ve had this happen to me in multiple occasions and it’s the main reason I stopped answering questions, for almost a year. I’ve just recently started again, but if I see another drop in the future I’ll tag a moderator and see if it’s still happening.
