There are many things I love about sharing on Google Map. Since becoming a mom I love being able to showcase family friendly places, date night places for when my husband and I need a night away, to places when a girls’ night is needed.
Between all the places, what I adore sharing is my love of the mountains and the beauty of Canadian Nature. I’m always so grateful and in awe of the vastness of nature in my own backyard. Calgary is situated right near the Rocky Mountains which gives us access to the many beautiful views of lakes and hikes. Being out in nature keeps me sane and allows me to get lost in it without feeling guilty.
One of my favourite views is the turquoise colour of Lake Louise in Banff National park from Mount St. Piran. It’s such a great view of the lake and you feel so small to see the whole lake from so high up.
Grassi Lake in Canmore is a nice easy family trail. Once you get to lake it is a bit smaller than the other popular lakes but it’s less busy and feels more intimate. I went with my son several times while I was on maternity leave. If you continue behind the lake there is a rock/mountain wall that you can climb on and take a pretty nice picture.
Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park is so pristine and the color of the lake is unreal. It really does look like an emerald color. Taking a walk around the lake gives you different views of the lake on all sides.
Johnston Canyon is a staple and another one that I have gone several times. Getting to the falls is rather quick but if you’re up to it you can continue to the top to the ink pots and there’s also a hidden cave that people always try to find….I have yet to find it but maybe that will be another post.
Those are just several places in the mountains that are my repeats. The mountains are massive and limitless. I have done several other hikes and still plan to do more. The enormity of the beauty of Canadian nature always makes me want to get out into the mountains for some fresh crisp air away from the city. The mountains are where I lose my mind and find my soul. If you’re in the area let go and find your soul!
