My story starts one Saturday evening in Romania during a cold and grey day of autumn. I was visiting some places in the north of Romania and I was finishing that day waiting for a bus. Up to here everything was ok, some nice places, some nice stuff, some tasty food… just one problem, the bus never passed. Here starts my story about why I share in Google Maps.
Brasov, Romania
Let’s continue the adventure. So I was there, almost night (pretty dark because there was new moon) waiting for a ghost bus, seen how night became darkness, and the noise of cars on the road was diminishing. I asked a old man who was passing if the bus to Cluj-Napoca will pass. Finally, dealing with the language (he just speak Romanian language) I could understand that bus wouldn’t pass until next day. Fine!! I was 50 km far from my hostel, with almost no battery in my phone and, to be honest, a little bit hungry.
At this point I thought: there must be anyone else who was in the same situation in the past or in the future, there would be nice to share this knowledge (that there is no bus) with more people, to avoid they the same problem. That is why I started to contribute in Google Maps, to help people to enjoy their trips, to help people to avoid problems, to contribute to improve travellers community that Google makes available to us. Thank you!
My rescuer’s car
Oh! I almost forget it! Maybe you want to know how I finally reached my place, right? Well, with almost now battery at the phone and no so much money in my pocket I just could do one thing, can you guess it? YES! hitch-hike.
Transfăgărășan, Romania
Few weeks after someone replayed me giving me thanks, because he was lost too, until he took his phone and check my contribution in Google Maps. From the first moment that I get lost I started to contribute in Google Maps, but the moment when I received that replay of this person it motivated me to continue doing it more and more, why? well, just as the title says, to help other people to find themselves, to allow everybody to enjoy the world without fear, as I do.
