Looking for summer all the year ? Meet the other side of México; the Yucatán Peninsula

Hi everyone, hope if you reading this post you can know about the Yucatan state but specially Mérida which is the capital of this state located in the southwest of Mexico in a peninsula and is one of the safest cities in all Mexico, my purpose is to show to everyone who comes here to explore the other side of Mexico and feel the real experience in where not everything is tacos and tequila, well may be yes but there’s something more hidden back that, Yucatan has a historical legacy like few other territories in the world. In it’s surroundings stand majestic ceremonial centers, capital cities and beautiful buildings of carved stone and perfect architecture and I feel great to being a local guide because I can help to the others travelers while they’re visiting a place very different of their cities, I love to give recommendations about restaurants and places to go I really love to share with all the people from outside because before to travel if you read, ask about the place where you will visit soon, there isn’t more comfortable to receive personal information and the most important make the traveler don´t feel alone knowing there are new platforms to interact about travel.

Mérida has a lot of things to do, is being very famous for be rich in many traditions, culture, archeological sites, nature and gastronomy and the legacy of the Mayan heritage.

If you come to visit any day your itinerary should start walking by one of the most famous avenues in Merida, called Paseo de Montejo where you will see a lot of mansion, museums, antique buildings and many restaurants-bars very good, feel the breeze walking down the big nice trees in the streets.

Do you know we have a beaches only 25 minutes driving or taking a bus from the north of Mérida? of course is the Yucatan Riviera and has a lot of nice beaches as Celestún (where you can see flamingos, explore the mangrove route and much more) a virgin beach called Sisal with a nice beach, and the Costa Esmeralda route starts from Puerto Progreso (the nearest beach from Mérida) and finish after las Coloradas and Río Lagartos

Also, you must immerse about the archeological sites where the Mayan culture developed a lot of this, do you know they were the first tribe in the world to create the zero number? yes you must read and explore nice areas as Chichen Itzá (one of the seven wonders of the world). Uxmal and other very hidden archeological site in where you can be in the top of a pyramid or visit Dzibichaltun that is on the way to Puerto Progreso just about 15 minutes from the north of the city and has a lot of history and culture.

For the next you have to immerse into a natural ‘’cenote’’ that is a crystal clear eye water in where you can swimming, diving or snorkel, you will have a great experience when you feel the fresh waters of the underground rivers in where you don’t have to worry about because there aren´t any kind of predatory animals as sharks, snakes, piranhas is an unique experience and there are about 2,500 cenotes in all the state but you have to visit the Xbatun, Xlacah (located in Dzibichaltun Ruins) the Cenotes route in Cuzamá and Homún located about 45 minutes from the south of Merida or go to Valladolid wich is a Magic town located near Chichen Itzá and there are many cenotes around, one famous is the Ik-Kil, Yokodzonot definitely is a must to do after you have visited an archeological zone.

And for finish don’t forget about the Gastronomy of Yucatán, you definitely have to try the traditional ‘’Cochinita Pibil’’, Panuchos, Salbutes, Lime Soup, relleno negro, papadzules and a lot of variety you can mix with a fresh drink beer or cocktail or a natural juice of local fruits you can find it in any local market located near the historic and colonial downtown but I recommend you visit the santiago market and a restaurant very famous called ‘’La Chaya Maya’’ of very Yucatecan food so please don’t forget to bring fresh clothes, swimming bath, tennis shoes, sandals, sunblock and a bottle of water to be hydrated all the time.
