One of the first things that people think about Long Island, even most of the people who live here, is the close proximity to Manhattan. If you have twenty bucks and live pretty much anywhere on long island you’re no more than an hour away from being able to eat almost any type of food in the world! Traveling into Manhattan is easy, and opens up a world of possibility to anyone willing to make the trek. And while the food and experience in Manhattan are always amazing, it unfortunately overshadows all of the amazing food that Long Island itself has to offer! My goal as a food enthusiast and lover of all things delicious is to help spread the amazing and wonderful culture of Long Island’s food. There are so many amazingly wonderful places on Long Island that all deserve some love.
Total side note, I know Long Island is famous for diners. Diners are pretty great if you’re in the mood, but there are so many more options for everyone to enjoy. One of the places that I recommend the most to people is a place called the Cactus Cafe, a small Tex Mex spot in Glen Cove. They have everything you could want, from burritos to whole chickens served with fries and rice. It’s a little bit of a drive for me but I make the trip at least twice a month because their food is just so good.
Long Island has so many other amazing places that are diverse and delicious, and I plan on finding as many as I can and sharing them with other people who love food.
