London is famous for its Pubs crawl, and for those who love food, what do you think about food crawls?
Not all food are suited to such an endeavour, but pizza definitely does the job perfectly as it is easy to share and there are doughs and toppings that can suit everyone in your party (vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, kosher, halal,…).
The idea came to me last winter, when my sister (17) and my brother (15) came to visit me in London where I had been living for already 3 years. I had been to a stag do the weekend before and told them how I crawled through different pubs. And I wanted them to enjoy the fun of crawling from place to place, and as we love pizza, I thought it could be fun.
We started at 6PM when the furthest place opened and we finished at 11PM after the 3 of us managed 5 restaurants along London Tube lines and 5 pizzas. We made a video about our experience for our parents and we had a lot of fun. It was a fantastic way to try out delicious pizzas in a great city and have a great time with my siblings.
I’ve published a list of my favourite pizza places in London for others to enjoy the pizza crawl.
I think this food crawling format is a lot of fun and I did repeat the experience with pizzas in different restaurants with some friends. I think it’s a lot healthier and inclusive than binge drinking and because everyone remains sober (ish), you all forge great memories from it.
Can you think of other foods that would be suited to such an endeavour? Do you have a list of places that people could enjoy visiting in a short food tour?
If you do, please let me know and I’ll be happy to experiment, in London, Europe and elsewhere.
