Lockdown 2020 - My reachout and take on this

Hi Local guides its me Jess…

I have really been struggling during this Lockdown in South Africa and I thought I would check in with you guys.

we have been on Lockdown since March 26 and it has now been extended until the end of April. All I want to do is go for a walk on the beach and watch the beautiful waves crash on the white sandy shore… What do you miss if you are also going though this?

At first my biggest concern was not being to go out or dine, enjoy events etc. Nothing to review, nothing to rate… I did however stumble upon an amazing remote business which I have started this has helped keep me busy during this time. But now I am really concern about this virus, I do not know where we stand as a human race and what the future will bring, since we have been on lockdown this has really smacked me with the reality that this is really serious. I feel as if I am in a apocalyptic movies where a virus wipes out the weak…only problem is I do not know what the post apocalyptic distopian sequel looks like…or if I will be cast in a role. No matter what religion or belief you have I will do mine and you please do your as we need all the help and support as possible as a community we need support one another with anxiety, worry, etc.

There so many people alone during this time with no family members present, I would not survive this mentally…If this is you please comment below I would love to chat and help keep you connected. I wish I could be on holiday with my family again!!

I am of course also counting the days until the May, 18 to see if I have been selected for the Connect 2020.

So guys please connect with me let me know if you are currently in a Lockdown and how it is affecting you and your family during this time…

P.S. If you are stuck at home in abusive relationship and need help please send me a message or comment that you would like to order the Marine Mudmask then I will check up on you and see if you are OK…If you need me to call the authorities on your behalf then tell me that you need express shipping to your home address. Marine

Stay safe and healthy…

Hello @Jesvan92

another downlocked birdy from Turkey here… seems like the golden cage is getting tight… I love the view of your quarantine. I am at the coat as well, and all I can do is to run out in the very early sunlight along the beach for half an hour.

There is a lot what I miss but I guess these times are the best ones to learn to appreciate the good days and valuable time with friends and most importantly the family.

I wish you healthy days and hope to meet you in the bay area.

Hi @Jesvan92 ,

In Australia, where I live, we are self isolating but not in full lockdown. We can still go out to get groceries, medicine and to exercise. In fact, I have enjoyed seeing so many more people out and about in our community walking, riding and roller blading with their families. We all lead such busy lives- bring forced to stop, all of a sudden, is really hard. Local Guides is such a great community- thanks for reaching out and I hope that you and your family stay safe and well. We’ll get through this together!

All Turkey is for two days under lockdown. It’s the pure madness how everyone was out to buy bread yesterday. I guess you haven’t seen such scenes before @JustineE

Hi @JacobLED ,

I live in a more remote part of Australia. Even here we have had shortages of grocery items and people panic buying. However, it is less restrictive for us than in major cities like Melbourne and Sydney.

Thanks for sharing @JustineE

I see that I am in a way too self-critical regarding the administration here. It seems like the world is going mad. If Australia wouldn’t be shut down, me and my friend would’ve been in Tasmania this month.

Sorry to hear that bro @ogewuru

Oh, so sorry your travel plans got cancelled at @JacobLED . I do hope you will be able to make your trip to Tasmania once this has all passed. I have visited Tasmania once and it was absolutely beautiful. If you go in June/July, make sure to take warm clothes as it will be very cold.

Thank you for your suggestions @JustineE . That’s exactly the point. I’d assist a friend and the plan was to visit Tasmania before the winter starts.

As I don’t stick on one plan, I am calmly watching how the world is healing before I plan another trip.

But it probably won’t be a far distanced country.

The most countries have clearly announced that they will be closed to tourist tourist during the summer season this year. :slightly_frowning_face:

Just FYI @JacobLED , although it is winter in the southern states of Australia in June/July - it is sunny and warm in the northern states like Queensland and, in particular, Cairns. So, if you do have a change of heart, and Australia opens up its borders by then, perhaps you can come and visit Cairns and I can show you around :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Jesvan92 You have a great view of the Table Mountain to enjoy from Blouberg and you live right near the Atlantic Ocean enjoying sunrise and sunsets every day. I am stuck in Johannesburg which is more of a Concrete jungle as compared to Cape Town. But I am spending my time sharing my journeys in South Africa on this forum and local guides are supporting me with their comments and likes which is motivating me a lot. I hope the same for you! Cheers!!! Aashish
