Hi my name is Sirajudheen, and I’m a photographer based out of Kochi, Kerala. This is my first post here. I chanced upon this local guide program purely by accident. Till then, I merely used to update the reviews and photos of the places I visit.
I travel a lot, and google maps are a lifesaver. It helps me with navigations, the places I need to visit, the hostels and food with the reviews posted in it. All in all, it paints a pretty word picture about all that I need to know about the place I’m visiting. And that’s what eventually made me an ardent reviewer as well, so that I can help other like me. Along with the reviews, I always make it a point to upload the photographs I clicked from there.
The local guide program was soon introduced to me. And t’s strategy-like points and the competitive levels hooked me into this friendly race and I started to post photos and reviews whenever I get time. The monthly reports reminded me of how much I did. The comments and photo views received were also inspired me to do more.
As a person who loves travelling, this local guide program is beneficial in picking up a destination to travel to and manage our expectation about it. I’m someone who’s always travelling on a budget. And I’m looking for all the beautiful scenic places to click pictures. When I do find it, I get to share my experiences and insights with people who’re waiting on for a trip to the same place.
I always wanted this program to be like a community; where people help each other right from choosing the destination to the intricate details that are to be noted during the journey. Unfortunately, most of the people in my region are not well aware of this local guide program.
No one knows a place better than a person who lives locally. And that’s where all the relevancy of this program comes in hand.
I want to connect with local guides all around the world. I would like to know what their motivations are. And I would like to learn how to make my contributions better.
