My name is Samson and I am a Local Guide from Nigeria. My experience and insight been a local guide has thus been a great journey so far. From my consistent contributions to Google Maps so far, I have seen my points rise to a 88,000 points. Seeing this everyday gives me the needed joy to watch and see how my contributions I make to Google Maps grow and also know it is helping millions of people from all over the world.
From connecting with fellow local guides here on localguidesconnect and planning both online & offline activities to help make an impact on Google Maps, attending Google events, interacting with the Google Moderators and also meeting and interacting with Top Google Leaders, everything has been a great experience for me so far. All this amazing experiences and privileges happened to me because I am a Local Guide. I would say a big thank you to Google and the Local Guides team for creating this amazing and one of the most beautiful online community on planet earth here today.
My Insight & Experience With The Local Guides Program
I was just checking my stats a while ago and I saw I had already spend a total time of 72, 281 minutes online on Local Guides Connect. I can proudly say this total time I have spent online has been worthwhile so far. Everyday been a local guide and coming on to connect is a learning & exploration field for me. The Local Guides program has made me experienced diversity in cultures, traditions and heritages from all over the world just from my mobile phone even without having to visit.

My Meet-up Activities
Since my inception into the Local Guides program I have hosted several and lots of meetup of wish I have lost count of. But there is a particular meetup I hosted that can never be forgotten from my heart and also from the hearts of the many local guides whom participated. That meetup was known to be called The Worldwide Map Edit Walk. 39 communities, 6 continents came together with the purpose of a mission to make an impact in their community and beyond. Many of us have never seen or met ourselves before, but we were able to organize ourselves and put together this event because we all shared similar passions together because we all wanted to make an impact by contributing useful information on Google Maps. Thank to the Local Guides program this may have not been possible. I met people from over more than 50+ countries due to this event. And imagine I never had to travel to another country to see them, we all got all this co-ordinated here on Localguidesconnect.com. You can imagine how happy and intrigued I must have felt. What I love about being a Local Guide
I love the fact that my voluntary contributions of review’s, photos, adding of places, checking the facts I make to the Google maps is helping millions of people in the world day by day! This brings me great excitement and happiness. I love adding places that are not yet listed on the Google maps, so that when other people try to find that place, they can locate it easily. Whenever I visit a place, I like leaving a helpful review about the place so that other people can have a view about the place.
Why I Love Been A Local Guide
I love been a Local Guide because I want to play my own part to make the world a easier and better place for people to locate with adequate and reliable information. I know by contributing reviews and photos to places I am helping people make informed decisions about those places before they visit.
Fun Fact About Me & How The Local Guide Program Has Influenced Me
As an avid traveller, i travel on a regular basis to different & new cities. While visiting the city, I love visiting the different tourist attractions in the city and also try to discover the hidden gems in that city. With all this fun facts above, the local guides program has seriously influenced me drastically. Now, Before traveling to any new city, one of the very first few things that comes into my mind and is ask questions here on Connect about the city, the kind of food that particular city has to offer and use Google Maps as a guidance tool for me to point out my direction and guide me. Thanks to Google Maps and Localguidesconnect.com my travels are always stress free.
My Local Guides Feeling
When I check Google Maps daily and see how my contributions been made are helping millions of people to be informed about places, I feel very happy and delighted. This as well increases my passion towards a steady contributions to Google Maps and as well the Local Guides Community.
A whole lot of people have been helpful to me in this community, the Google Moderators too have been awesome in helping me grow in knowledge.
The Local Guides program has made me made new friends, home an abroad I have a lots of friends. And with each and every day passing by and counting I am making a whole lot more. I would love to connect live with my local guides friends in San Francisco during the connect live event 2018 because I want to make my dream of meeting such great & dedicated individuals online who share a similar passion as mine a reality.
