#LocalGuidesChallenge Week 1 (October 20-26)

Introduction:

Today I am rolling out the weekly Local Guides Challenge. Upfront as a disclaimer: the hashtag #LocalGuidesChallenge is not endorsed by Google nor backed by any other industry.

The thought behind the challenge is that some of the Local Guides that are higher levels are starting to become bored and need a challenge to keep them going and the new members of the Local Guides Program may be overwhelmed and a challenge can be a great introduction.

The Challenge:

The Challenge is to take a photo of a movie kiosk, something like RedBox. Try to take a unique photo, and then upload it to Google Maps. There are several Movie Kiosks out there if you think about it, how many of them do you pass by when you walk into Walmart? For those that are unable to take a photo of a movie kiosk try a substitute of an automated machine of some sort.

After you have taken a photo of a Movie Kiosk and uploaded it to Google, put it on Twitter, Facebook, or even Google+ with the hashtag #LocalGuidesChallenge. I’ll be looking for them!

Rewards:

The only real reward is more points and bragging rights. I may even next week with the next challenge spotlight a few of my favorites.

OK so this cracks me up.

I was at Circle K to get a drink and this lady was returning a DVD in her PJ’s.

No cares in the world.

I think I find it extra special that she has buttons on her backside.

I tweeted my photo with the hashtag #LocalGuidesChallenge, granted it is nowhere as awesome as @AndreaLynnDrake 's photo! I’m still looking forward to all of your tweeted photos out there!

Hello @Somsenater ,

This was a great idea! I’d just like to add that while you have clearly noted that this was not a Google sponsored event, we do discourage the use of hashtags other than #LocalGuides or if applicable, #LGSummit17.

We want to make that we keep our hashtag use consistent to ensure greater visibility on all social channels around the world
