Local Story of an Indian Local Guide

Hello everyone, namastey,
Greetings from India, the incredible country in the World. Where you will find awesome places, people and things at every street.

About Local Guide Level 7:
My name is Jay Sen and I belong to this awesome country. Currently residing in Gurugram, which is just next to New Delhi (The heart and capital of India). I love to travel, so I choose Tourism as my study and events as my job and because of that I have very good knowledge of places and always end up as travel planner for my relatives, friends, colleagues and neighbours.

What I love to share and do on Google Maps:
As mentioned earlier I love to travel, so I love to give reviews and upload pictures of Tourist places, venues, restaurants and updated information about them like timings, what to do and what not to do, best dish of that restaurant, prices, add missing places, answering questions posted by others. I inform same thing to my known people’s and because of that I have become famous with my relatives, friends, colleagues and neighbours.

Why I love to share & give reviews and upload photos:
I have a volunteer nature and love to volunteer when ever I get the chance. I love to give reviews because this helps other to know about that place better. They can plan things better and plan anything according. For example people wants to visit a tourist place or restaurant, so they searches for that place on Google Maps and see the pictures, then reads the reviews. They get to know what to do at that place, the timings, rules and regulations (if any), type of foods they offers, prices, things to avoid, etc.

Why I chose to help other and become Local Guide:
Whenever I want to visit some place. I gather information about those places through Google and Google Maps and find it very helpful. Sometimes it happens that when I search some place and read the reviews given by people I get disappointed as either they have not given complete details of that area or wrong information which misleads people about that area and I feel bad. Therefore, I decided to give honest and good reviews of the places I have visited and I know and like that I became a Local Guide.

How I got motivated and what encourages me to spend time for Google Maps:
I uploaded my office building’s picture and people liked it. Then I upload some pictures of other places and started getting email from Google that “certain numbers of people watched your pictures” and “someone wants to know about this place can you answer their questions”. So I started replying to their questions. Then regularly got emails about the status of my reviews and one day I got email that I have earned a badge and one email mentioned that I am in top 1% who had contributed from my area. These all gave me motivation to spend time on Google Maps.

One day I got email that I have got 100 GB data for 6 months in Google Drive, I felt encouraged. I didn’t used it though as 15 GB is enough for me right now. Then one day I got email for Local Guide merchandise, this was the time when I felt too happy as I got something from Google directly.

About Connect Live 2019:
I didn’t knew anything about Connect Live until unless I received an email. After going through that email I came to know about local guides website and from that I came to know about Pop-up which actually happened in my area in 2018. After creating profile on the website I came to know about meet-up’s and from there I was able to meet any Local Guides near me and around the World. Also I came to know many things about Local Guide community, rules of uploading photos, suspension of Local Guides on higher levels, stories of other Local Guide.

I want to attend Connect Live 2019 because I want to be a moderator and teach & help new Local Guides how to make Google Maps a better app for everyone, so that people can take positive ideas, reviews and things from it and avoid the negative places. Also I want to attend Connect Live 2019, so that I can make more friends around the World and learn about their communities and share things of my community.
