As a Fort Lauderdale / Wilton Manors resident I often contribute to maps in areas just a short walk from my house including Wilton Drive. Local headlines were ablaze just a few months ago when a man was seen and stopped by local authorities riding a bike completely nude. The story of course aroused a lot of local attention to say the least including in local focus groups and media.
The attention surrounding this has apparently led to someone to feel that the location where the man was apprehended is suitable as a place on Google Maps, which is where it is now showing up. For someone who is not familiar with the story it comes as categorized as a clothing store, no doubt to be ironic, and not much more is there.
In being a Local Guide I have always felt that tags, additions, and edits must be factual as so many people rely on this great tool for their everyday lives. Creative is best suitable for reviews. The location where a man was arrested that got a lot of local press buzz definitely is not a marker and believe me there is no marker there, its not a photo opportunity, and the story as a whole is definitely not everyday Google Map appropriate, yet as of October 25th, 2019 there is officially an unclaimed place you can review, suggest edits for, and tag.
