Local information for our area around Baza, Granada in Southern Spain

My wife and I are currently based in the UK and started our Spanish adventure some 10 or more years ago when we bought our “cave home” in Galera, Granada. Initially we visited for a couple of weeks at a time, then for 5 or 6 weeks and eventually on early retirement, we recently started spending up to 6 months at a time there. With current changes in the UK, it is looking likely that we will make this wonderful area of Spain our main place to live and our holiday visits will then be to the UK and elsewhere.

Meanwhile, most years we travel to the USA to visit relatives . Prior to all of this , my work took me to various countries in Europe (including France, Belgium and Germany) and as far as Japan and Kong Kong. Today we are happy to travel around Spain and nearby countries such as Gibraltar and Portugal and do so regularly . I make a concerted effort to detail restaurants and hotels we have visited as well as shopping and other area of interest, on Google Maps, YouTube and my own blog at https://www.bedrock.es

Probably the most interesting thing I’ve done as a local guide is introducing a friend with no experience of Spain at all, to the local festivals.

I regulary provide information online to help people new to the South of Spain and take people I know who come to visit from the UK around various landmarks and interesting Spanish locations such as the Al Hambra in Granada and of course famous landmarks in Seville and Barcelona.

Above, a quiet summer evening in our neighbourhood, far from the tourist areas sround the coast.
