I had an unfortunate situation with smoke damage in my home and had to stay at multiple hotels this summer. The Marriott Townplace in Commerce Michigan was one of the worst experiences in my life! The hotel itself was nice but the evening manager was a nightmare!!! I have a severe injury that causes me excruciating pain, and makes it hard to stand or walk, especially in the morning and at night. Mind you I was out of my house for 4 1/2 months and had to live in the hotel with my pets, son, daughter and grandkids, (on the weekends). This being the second Marriott hotel I stayed in, the rules, (unknown to me)i, weren’t the same. My son was extremely sick and took the soiled sheets off the bed and put them outside of the door, (while I was out). This woman shut off my key to my room, so I had to go all the way down to the elevator and down hall to the front desk. She was condescending and spoke to me as if I was a child. She repeated herself at least 4 - 5 times, I asked her to please not lock me out of my room and if she has any questions please feel free to call me on my cell. I explained that my injury made it hard and painful to come all the way down the desk at the end of a long day I could hardly make it up to my room. Had I known she needed to speak to me I could have pulled up to the front door near the desk. She shut off the room key at least 4 or 5 more times after that, (I swear it was on purpose). I almost jumped the desk, but threatened to call corporate and have her fired!!! I paid $256 per night for this treatment!!! My family has always stayed at the Marriott hotels and have traveled the world. We are advit travelers but these circumstances caused us to be homeless, temporarily. My family is accustomed to the hospitality the Marriott hotel and expect to be treated as a valued guest. I’m a grown woman and don’t need a babysitter or need to be scolded by a young girl who has a superiority complex!!! Avoid this hotel at all cost!!! The Marriott Residence Novi, Michigan was exemplary, also the Marriott Townplace Madison heights, Michigan, (14 mile rd and Stevenson). also had wonderful service.
