My name is Héctor, I grew in a small town in the Dominican Republic. I inherited the passion of photography from my father and started capturing my environment and life from a young age.
I started using Local Guides on a trip to Atlanta a few years ago, I wanted to go the best spots in the City for photography and interesting, colorful places. As an adventurer person I wanted to see something different than the typical tourists spots, so I experimented with google map lists and with the help of the local guides and their photos and descriptions I was able to discover a very cultural rich side of the city. Right from that moment I started to see the value of a Community of people that contribute to help others discover the hidden gems and beauty of the world.
Previously the information for tourists and travelers was only limited to travel agencies guides or magazine publications, online blogs and websites were very limited and few. With the help of Local Guides this has changed and the information is now democratized and expanded like never before.
As a professional photographer living in a small island in the Caribbean, being a local guide has opened a new door for my passion, now I can help a worldwide community and share my favorite places with the whole world in a very unique way.
In this difficult times the humanity has been hit by an invisible enemy, I have no doubt that we together will defeat this pandemic sooner or later. Thinking ahead we as Local Guides will have a very important role in the near future, because when the time comes the world will need that motivation to go out again and live, to go out and experience our beautiful countries and cities. Local Guides will as always have a special voice and inspiration to the world.
