Local Guides: Why people who care about quality matter

In a time of fast fashion, restaurant chains, and instagram stories, it is easy to become swept away by the speed of life. The problem is that speed very rarely implies quality, in fact it often begets mediocrity. But the speed of things in this technological world is a necessary evil. Society is so constantly barraged by opportunities, information, and reasons why we need to be doing 1000 things at any given moment that it becomes difficult to commit yourself to the present moment. It is for this reason that Local guides are so special. Local Guides are people who appreciate quality and attention to detail, and find a moment of their busy lives to send positive words of affirmation via Google reviews simply for the joy of spreading appreciation. This is what the Local Guides program means to me; they are the resistance of people left in society who still value the beauty of a singular perfect moment that they may be fully engulfed in. Whether that be a spectacular dinner at a hidden restaurant, a music show at a killer venue, or the finest cocktail a city has to offer, its a network of thrill seekers assisting each other in always being ‘in the know’ wherever they go. I can travel to any city in the world and within 10 minutes know exactly which restaurant has the best chimichangas in town. I can know which scuba diving agency in Italy can be trusted with my life, and which will have instructors who speak english clearly. I can find the best deal on a bike rental to traverse the belt line in Atlanta. (Shameless plug for ATL) Whatever the question, Google reviews provided by the Local Guide community are here to support my quest for the artisanal spirit. So to all of you thrill seekers, food enthusiasts, music heads, and lovers of life, I salute you. For every time you’ve spent 5 minutes finding the perfect way to articulate the deliciousness of your first bite of brunch, that time was not a waste. I appreciate it, and you. Keep on keeping on.
