Soon you’ll be able to get your Local Guides and Google Maps social updates and news in the same place: @googlemaps. In March, we’ll merge Local Guides’ Instagram and Facebook pages with @googlemaps and move our updates to @googlemaps’ Twitter account. We realize this might be disappointing news if you’ve followed our dedicated Local Guides channels over the years. This change gives us the opportunity to highlight you — our awesome Local Guides — on a bigger stage, and gives you a one-stop-shop to find out what’s new with Google Maps on social media. If you already follow Local Guides on Instagram or like our page on Facebook, you’ll automatically follow or like Google Maps once the merge is complete.
As always, Connect will remain your main source of news and the home for in-depth discussions on all things Local Guides. If you’ve used social media to contact the Local Guides team in the past, remember that the best way to get assistance is by reaching out to us right here on Connect. Just be sure to tag a Google Moderator.

Les cuento que accedí a la pagina de Facebook y me encanto, me recordó con algo de nostalgia a la pagina de Google + jajaja con esas historias que fueron colocando, esta estupenda .
I know this will allow the work of local guides around get amplified further through those platforms and not map centric alone.
Still waiting for the soft feature that allows sending private message to local guides through Google Maps profile, I know there’s privacy concern but i just wish.
I agree with @Jesi , now more people will know about the local guide program. This is not a disappointing news, rather it’s a cool news, like you mentioned, a one-stop shop to know what’s new on google maps. I am already following both google maps and local guides on instagram. So I am guessing after the merging you wont have trouble finding them on maps. Thank you for the information @MaxNYC
