Last week, more than 150 passionate Local Guides joined us for our second regional pop-up event, Connect Live Lima! We chose Lima, Peru because Local Guides there are working extra hard to get their communities on the map. The event was held at the Country Club Lima Hotel where Local Guides enjoyed an evening of conversation, connection, and fun.
Connect Live Lima was filled with exciting presenters. Local Guides Program Manager, @JuanCh , talked about the different ways to contribute on Google Maps and how Local Guides can score more points and make the map better for everyone. Google software engineer and Lima native, @LuisLarco, shared his experience working on Street View and demonstrated how to take great 360 photos. Local YouTuber and world traveler, Luciano Mazzetti, also joined the stage to talk about his travels and offered tips on how to write great reviews.
After the presentations, guests moved outside where they enjoyed food truck fare and traditional Peruvian bites and sipped specialty pisco cocktails and local beer. There, they also participated in a mobile photography workshop hosted by local food photographer Jimena Agois and a bakery workshop hosted by Victor Tarazona, pastry chef and owner of SugarLab.
Guests put their new review-writing tips to the test and created a map, including ratings and reviews, of their favorite places in Lima. They also enjoyed screen printing their own tote bags and posing in the 180 degree photo booth. (We love seeing these photos pop up on social media!)
Local Guides left the event with new Google Maps skills, delicious SugarLab creations, and hopefully some new friends. To see photos from the event, check out our Google Photos album here.
Connect live is getting closer to Argentina! This is great. I saw some photos on Instagram, but didn’t see the awesome Google Maps cookies there. Congrats to everyone who went, I’m sure it was very fun.
