I wrote a post the other day but I can’t see it in my timeline.
It’s regarding negative reviews by 2 local guides on the 2 different days I went to a particular cafe.
The first was by a local guide who wrote the review on the same day I went there and they said they didn’t receive a VAT receipt. Nor were the staff friendly.
The manager’s assistant noticed the review straight away and added that he never served that customer nor was asked for a receipt.
Customer service has always been good to all customers as far as I’ve seen and it appears the review doesn’t match the place nor the customer service.
The 2nd local guide came on the same day I went there another time and said the bread was soggy.
The manager insisted on showing me the kitchen (which looked clean and tidy) and the 4 zaafar pizzas that were just taken out of the oven.
The bakery is freshly made and the place is clean.
Yet 2 local guides went there on the same 2 days I had latte there and gave the place a 1-star review.
As I mentioned in a previous response, if a local guide feel the need to give a 1-star review, then speak to the manager of the place first/discuss the concern and then return to see if any changes have been implemented.
After my most current review, 2 Local Guides have reviewed the same place on the same day I went there and gave a negative review.
The first said the staff were unfriendly, when the person serving said nobody asked him for a VAT receipt that day nor has he been unfriendly as he likes to serve customers well. Which I have seen for myself.
2nd Local Guide said something about the bread which is made fresh every day and the Barista/server insisted on showing me the freshly made bread.
This bakery has always provided excellent service and has a Food Hygiene rating of 5 (the highest rating). It is a clean and cosy place and serves good value for money food.
I don’t know why 2 Local Guides reviewed the place on the 2 days I went there and gave a negative review of 1 star when I mentioned a post here before,
‘It’s best to speak with the manager before giving a 1-star review and then returning to see if things are better.’
In this case the cafe has always been of a good standard.
Please Local Guides, be nice where niceties are due.
Hi @Kol-Colleen_2018 I had a look in the spam quarantine but I cannot see your post. Is it in your drafts?
I agree that if you have a grievance with a business it is best to approach them first but not everyone is comfortable doing that. I’ve been at businesses where I didn’t feel safe giving them in person feedback.
Yes, unfortunately that does happen from time to time @Kol-Colleen_2018 most Local Guides are honest people, a few make mistakes and review the wrong place, but sadly some review places they’ve never been too. They do get caught eventually and there are considerable consequences to poor behaviour.
as it was disconcerting for the cafe in question to see reviews by local guides they either didn’t see or saw but the review about for instance ‘soggy bread’ and tables not looking clean, wasn’t an accurate description.
The cafe owners (assuming they’ve claimed their business) can report reviews and Local Guides via the Google My Business community @Kol-Colleen_2018 . If you’ve got particular Local Guides that are problematic that need to be investigated and you can make a post in the How-Tos topic “I want to report a Local Guide please contact me” and a Googler will be in touch privately.
