It’s been a few years since I started rating and writing reviews about where ever I go. At first, it was just a fantasy but little by little this changed. When I received emails from google maps that said your reviews are popular and thousands of times my pictures have been seen by people, I started to believe in what I was doing. Where ever I go, I passionately share my story and pictures I take with everyone and I also read other people’s ideas. I believe this would help us find the best possible choices and make our minds about where to go.
One thing that concerns me is that people who use wheelchairs are in a real hardship where I live, Shiraz, Iran. Thus, I try to let these citizens know if there are enough facilities for them like wheelchair parking or toilets.
As a medical student, I love to go to cafes and restaurants in my free time. I’m a big fan of going out on foot. So, I always use google maps to find the best way to get to different destinations.
I’ve only traveled domestically so far. In a few trips I’ve had recently google maps was the most useful application I used when outside; therefore, I felt responsible to make it better by contributing. I paid more attention where ever I visited to share correct information. I tried getting better pictures and all these made me more confident in my skills as a local guide when I saw the feedback.
I write my reviews in English so that the tourists visiting my country could have a better chance to inform themselves about different monuments, restaurants and natural resorts. This fact has helped me improve my English as well.
To sum it up local guides program has made a difference in the way I introduce myself and my perspective of who I am. I have been given the chance to show what I’ve got and be seen by others which I’m deeply grateful for.
