When I started the Local Guides program in 2017 I could never imagine how it would positively influence my day-to-day life. Like most Google users I started at Local Guides as a simple curious, intrigued by this newest tool. But what started as an uncompromised photo having a coffee at the supermarket near my home has been growing every day and becoming something that brings me great pleasure to do in my spare time.
Coffee inside Pão de Açúcar - Brazilian well-known Supermarket.
But everything changed when I’ve received an email from Google team informing me that one of the photos I’ve shared had set a new view record.
Country Club Ninho Verde I - Porangaba/SP
This was the photo which for more than two years, was the record of views from all the photos I’ve posted. On the day I received that email everything changed. The photo in question is from one of the places I most like to visit, Condomínio Ninho Verde I in Porangaba/SP. Realizing that I managed to transmit, through a photo, all the beauty that this place represents was very special to me.
From then on, I started to become more and more interested in the Local Guides program, to know the possibilities it offers, not only so that we can share our experiences of each evaluated place, but also to discover talents that we didn’t even know we had or were asleep.
As a teenager, I took a technical photography course. But the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life ended up sleeping that ability.
But now, as a local guide, I can again, through photography, provide this exchange through the image. Every place I visit, my look is no longer just a user. It is more than that, I stick to every detail to discover the best that each place has to offer and I try, through photography, to convey the beauty of the moment.
This is what the Local Guide Program represents to me, discovery, experiences, and exchange.
