I didn’t know if there is such a concept as a tourism intelligence, but Google showed me some results. All of them were connected to marketing or data analysis.
What I mean is a system of skills like IQ or EI (emotional intelligence).
I guess, a tourism intelligence should include following ideas:
-
Considering environment while traveling and preferring more ecological transport and amusement.
-
Caring about a reputation of your own country and its citizens when you travel and host someone.
-
If you provide any service, make sure it is qualified and worse requested time and money.
-
In a global meaning the tourism intelligence should help avoid a huge concentration of tourists in one place.
Coming in some popular destinations lost its sense. Instead of joy you get queues and soooo many people around. Even if you find the best place on Earth to enjoy silence – it will lose its magic if there are loud crowds there.

The first step in growing your tourism intelligence is to share your experience and find out about someone’s.
Some things just don’t seem important until you find out that Swedes have a specific word to express their flight shame – “flygskam”. Or that some people abandon visiting zoos, because it’s not a good place for animals.

I live in Odessa – beautiful city on the coast of the Black Sea. But I never ever attend our beaches at a daytime in summer. They are loaded with tourists who act to each other not in a very respectful way. It hurts. But it’s hard to blame anyone: most of them don’t see anything bad in their behavior. They just don’t know another way.
So we should undertake a responsible mission to treat our guests well and teach them how to treat others. Tell them what things are disturbing and annoying. Show them what they should do with waste to get it recycled or send for a safe disposal. Share places with good service and report about disappointing ones. It’s our contribution to the tourism intelligence growth.
You can make the world better, even if your name is not Greta. Think positive and start from your closest circle.
