In preparation to Local Guides Connect everyone post info about how they love Local Guides and Google Maps. I want be different. I will talk about problems. Maybe I am just blind and just stupidly don’t know about some instruments. And those problems what I say are not problems at all. Give me advise in comments if I am wrong.
- No way to correct the map. Google maps are very sophysticated. Now I am in Serbia. City called Novi Sad. And if you compare the cheme of streets with pictures from satellite you will realize that cheme are very wrong. And I do not see the way to fix it.
- Buildings are not container for organizations. Organizations, small busineses are exist in buildings. It’s like files in folder. But as I see buildings with theyr adresses are not contain organizations. I think it’s wrong.
- No way to communicate with other users. In yandex there is regional chats. Where you can talk with your neighbours. I don’t see how can I talk with my neighbours in google maps. Even with local guides active members.
- No mails about events. I tryed to organise local meet up. Only a few people respond. But I see there is many people who active in google maps. Local Guides program shoud send a message to other guides if someone create a meet-up.
- Bad photos. Google maps offer to add photos for many people. Sometimes people add inapropriate photos to google maps. The procedure of delete bad photos from google maps are inconvenient.
- Alot of missed places. There is alot of photos of popular places, but there is no information of unknown places. I don’t know how to solve it. 2gis somehow solve it - their information are very correct. Yandes Toloka even pay for information about check the places, but their map still way far from ideal.
Let’s collect more problems here. And if we do maybe we will find a solution for them.
