Tell me, why do you repeatedly add photos and videos in one place? I know that the more photos/videos you add, the more points you get, but this way you only create a mess.

@new.user

I understand the importance of maintaining clarity and accuracy when adding photos and videos to locations. However, in some areas, a single landmark or place may offer multiple unique facilities, such as public toilets, public parking, private parking, VIP entry gates, special gardens, and theme-based gardens. While these facilities share the same geographical location on the map, they serve different purposes and cater to different user needs.

Adding photos and videos for each facility helps showcase the full range of services available at the landmark. This enhances user experience by providing more detailed and specific information about what they can expect at the location.

Rightly said @Ranu5g keep sharing
Regards,

I fully understand that one place can offer many unique facilities. However, I see that you did not understand my answer, so I will show you examples from your profile:

As you can see, you are adding the same photo/video in one place multiple times. What for? I have no idea.

Bug in Address Editing and Updating on Google Maps @ShreyaMusings @new.user For example, I recently tried to update an address for ‘New Airport Parking, Khajuraho.’ However, Google Maps flagged it as conflicting with the main terminal address (‘Khajuraho Airport Terminal’) and displayed a red error box. Even after pressing the ‘Submit Anyway’ button, the update was not accepted properly.

This seems to be a bug in Google Maps that restricts adding or editing sub-facilities under a primary location. This issue creates confusion for users who rely on accurate details for navigation. Picture upload one time in one place . When we edit sub location then google map showing permanent register address . I think this is solution in my way

@new.user i agree with @Ranu5g and I faced the same but when I added a little more details in the address and a storefront of that place my map entry updation was accepted and it’s live now.
Regards,

No, @ShreyaMusings , @Ranu5g
What @new.user said is absolutely correct.
Duplicates and redundant photos are strictly forbidden in Google Maps, because are considered only a way to get more points.
This is part of the rules tha we accept (and confirmed to read) when we joined the Local Guides program.
It’s also a duty of every real Local Guide to keep his account in good condition by removing what we uploaded by mistake (if it was a mistake).

I absolutely agree but I have one thing to add some times here in India we have a huge complex or building where more than 100 business are going on. There are multiple entry points so if a storefront is open and it is not updated on Google maps we can update it with its pictures and remove irrelevant photos. What do you think @ErmesT

Regards,

@ShreyaMusings , as you can read in Troubleshoot Local Guides account issues - Google Maps Help, " Common reasons for removal include:

  • Participating on Local Guides as a business
  • Inappropriate behaviour on Connect
  • Posting duplicate reviews or photos
  • Contributing offensive content or spam
  • Adding fake locations
  • Changing correct business names
  • Adding unnecessary keywords
Honestly I didn’t checked your profile before, but you have to do h huge clean-up.
Photos like the ones here below, just to be clear, where you can see a set of three redundant photos posted twice, without adding any additional information about the place

Or the photos here taken during a meet-up with @NareshDarji , perfect for a photo album but useless in Maps and also violating the privacy of the people: Privacy - Maps User Contributed Content Policy Help
"Be a good neighbour and don’t publish photos or videos in which people are identifiable without their permission. "

Regarding a big store with multiple businesses inside, it is not permitted to publish the same photo in more than one business.
You can use the “located within” feature for making clear where the businesses are: Local Guides Tips: How to add “Located Within” in Google Maps

Thanks for this clarification
I will immediately remove pics that are repeated and also this will not happen again.

Permission was taken from all the people attending this meet up at Humayun tomb and then only I posted the photos on Google maps. I have always got multiple review request for same location on my Google maps and I try to delete as many irrelevant photos from the maps review every few days. Also I never post anything related to Tea time campaign or meet ups without the consent of fellow local guides. But thanks I will be more vigilant

Kindly don’t add personal and group photos on Google maps. It is strictly against the rules.

Yes please. Google Maps is not a personal album of photos, and while some pictures may be relevant for your memories it’s totally useless for the users who want to know more About The Location.
There are photos where the focus was on a bottle you received from Google (probably from Crowdsource, as I have the same bottle). Again, while this can be nice for you, or for a post here in Connect, it’s totally useless in Google Maps.
Please let me know if you need any help in identifying inappropriate contents

@ErmesT thank you for explaining the problem so thoroughly. I tried to do it in a few simple words but your post explains the problem in its entirety and is a great solution for the entire community.

You explained it right, @new.user
The problem is that a lot of people only think that the issue is in too strong rules, and not that the rules are necessary to prevent useless contents.
I strongly believe that we should always think as a user, to understand if what we post is helpful, or if this is what we would like to find when we use Google Maps. This could help to avoid a lot of duplicates and useless contents.
