Local Guides Meet-Up challenge! [EDITED]

I thought of initiating a fun-filled challenge and spread it through LG connect. That is "Local guides meet up challenge!"

As we all are aware, Local Guides’ meet-up’s have played several roles in connecting fellow Local Guides, sharing information and have resulted in many innovative events so far.
Here I’m about to start my second challenge connecting Local Guides with meet-up’s! (check my first Local guides one on one meet up challenge!)

As the first move I’m nominating six (6) Local Guides from all over the world ( @OSAMA , @HelloSamsonR , @MahabubMunna , @ErmesT , @KarenVChin & @ThanulakshanS ). The challenge to each nominee is to host a meet-up with fellow local guides and reply to this post with Meet-up photo or a selfie taken with a fellow local guides within two six weeks.

Then they start nominating their colleagues and fellow local guides to host meet-ups in their city. Likewise, the chain goes on. Hope this is gonna be the best way to get to know how many meet-ups did through this meet-up challenge post and interconnections and mutual friends do we all have in the Local Guides program / LG connect network. (I will also host a meet-up next week)

Haha @IlankovanT , I am going to cheat a little with your meet up rules to qualify for meeting in the next two weeks since I will be busy with my family celebrating Christmas and new years.

I did finally meet these Local Guides IRL in 2017 here in San Francisco during LGSummit17:

When you get a bunch of Local Guides Summit 17 Attendees all trying to take photos and video (group, video and 360 selfies) @StephenAbraham & @RobAo can definitely share some Golden Gate Bridge selfies.

In the meantime, I have a great selfie from my friend LGSummit16 & LGSummit17 Tunisian Local Guide @HoudaR :

What I have learned from taking selfies is you have a “stance” or a “look” to make selfies fun and engaging. Hong Kong Local Guide @BellaLui choreographed this LGSummit17 selfie at the flagship Apple Store in San Francisco with Bella, me, @AnuradhaP , @YK1001 , @lifestyle-t , @TimBull

Finally, I like to nominate a new Local Guides Meet-up Selfie category - how many Local Guides can you squeeze into one selfie. Ilankovan. With the help of Mahabub Munna, this was taken during a surprised Google SF office visit with 36 LGSummit17 attendees. We were able to visit two of the Google SF office buildings with the help of a Google Japan Googler on Oct 13, 2017. We were taken into “secret rooms,” we took photos of the San Francisco Bay Bridge at sunset, and we raided numerous office kitchens, floor after floor, for whatever food was left on counters and refrigerated cases.

After 90 minutes of roaming the floors of Google SF, here is for many, one of the #bestsummitever moments captured in a Google SF kitchen. BudionoS and Sanya, can you duplicate this massive Local Guides selfie photo in the next two weeks?!

Anyone who is tagged or in my above selfie photos, it would be great if you can have a Local Guides meet-up in the next two weeks according to Ilankovan’s Local Guides Meet-up Challenge!

I like your idea @IlankovanT but please extend your challenge time frame to six weeks for the following reasons:

• This will give people a chance to think of a Meetup that will entice people to come (other than just their existing friends)
• Submit and get the Meetup approved https://maps.google.com/localguides/meetup
• Give people plenty of notice that the Meetup is on and give plenty of time to share it on social media

Make sure that people feel free to opt out of the challenge without having to give a reason. I would approach the person you intend to challenge to carry the next part of the chain privately before naming them publicly so they don’t feel bad.

I think these small changes will set up your great idea for a big success.

Thanks for the valuable feedback on this meet-up challenge post. it’s purely a fun-filled challenge and I like to extend to 6 weeks time.

I have randomly picked people from different places without the PV chat (Because it’s a fun-filled CHALLENGE). if I confirm through PV chat then there is no value for this challenge. based on your comment I will change: “If any of you who are tagged in the chain but not interested in taking this forward, please just ignore. @IlankovanT , we had a meet-up to come up with plans for 2018 however didn’t fall under the official meet-up events. Met up with old and new community members. In the little planet there are 3 Summit Alumnis: @InnocensiaO , @KoffiK and I, a Nairobi Googler, @Dorothyooko , a Streetview Trusted Photographer @Benarudo , a Google Digital Skills Africa trainer @WaynePeter and two of the Nairobi community OGs @WinnieK and @WaweruM .

Second shot is in an elevator with one random dude who had no idea why these kids these days keep taking selfies everywhere.
