As foodie person, I like to click food photo. From this two I have posted photo on connect, top left desert pinni & kheer in 2 nd line. In bowl.
I hope I gave my best photo, give feedback ,it will help me to improve. I still learning because I am not so good in photography. Still lot to learn & practice it.
Here are my suggestions to take mouthwatering photos:
Use natural lighting. I try to either sit outside or near a window.
Reduce the amount of shadows in your photos (red curry in a bowl). It is distracting
Get closer to the food itself. You want to show your meal’s texture, glistening (dripping). You got taking it from the top down. Now try taking it from side to the top.
Think about how you see the object yourself and what makes it attractive or interesting to you. Also, this will show clearly the ingredients of the meal. All these photos were taken by my phone using natural lighting and taking different angles. I personally don’t take a lot of photos of the object. I quickly edit in my mind as I take.
I play with my food, picking the noodles with the chopsticks for example. It’s like an “action” shot. Giving the viewer what the noodles look like and what this ramen dish looks like. I also make sure my phone’s camera is focused in the middle of the object. I do edit (or crop my photos) before I upload too. This reduces any distractions, focuses the viewer’s attention on my food or meal photo.
Hope these Dos help you with your foodie photography.
Thanks for your kind words, most of the photo are not edited & nor cropped because earlier I didn’t knew but after attending photography virtual meet up by @PaulPavlinovich got to learn lot, thanks Paul taught us how to take food photo.
Even Team India virtual meet up are going on under the leadership of @TravellerG on photography learning & practing also but need time to get perfect I promise I will give my best. All photo are food cooked by me.
Photos are wonderful. Photos show the raw and natural emotions which are great.
Just a suggestion that you can Turn on ‘Grid Lines’ on your photography device and just try to align it so your picture has another linear and depth effect.
