I have spent a greater part of my career life in Lagos, Nigeria, a city fast becoming the hub for business in Africa. Undoubtedly, being a local guide here gives me the opportunity to be of immense assistance to both local and international businesses and persons who daily visit Google map to seek for information in relation to places for leisure or for business. It is of great pleasure to me to add missing places, photos and direction to where and when necessary. These pieces of information direct, guide and reduces stress and difficulties in accessing places of importance. When we relate the online experience of Local Guide to a natural experience, it brings to bare the physical assistance you offer to a stranger or someone who has lost or trying to find his way to a particular destination. As a “local” (which now presents ‘Local Guide’) in that community, neighbourhood, locality or country, seeing someone in despair and giving a helping hand is all that brings joy to my heart. It is great to be part of Local Guides. I enjoy the program. It makes the world a better place for all.
I am particularly excited being a Local Guide because it allows me to be of help to others, and know many more places. To be precise, I’ve been able to help small and big business owners by putting their businesses on the Google map. By this input, I am able to grow their customers’ base and by the reviews I leave, help guide the public in their decisions. These reviews are so informative in that it helps the customers and job seekers, for instance to make their decisions from what appears to be so shrouded and bleak in their quest for information.
Specifically, I’d love to add that since I added the business place - A.O.S Practice to the map, a lot of young Lawyers seeking employment in this reputable Law Firm in Lagos, Nigeria – the hub for Legal Advocacy have been able to locate the business place in their Google map search. By this, many have had their dreams of getting good jobs, fulfilled without much difficulty.
Another of my helpful addition to Google map would be Harry-Dot Confectionery & Cakes a local spot in the neighbourhood where people could get food related services to meet their needs. The business owner and I have become friends since I introduced her business to Google map. Now, this business place is doing so much in it service to the community. Also, since being added to Google map, it has initiated business affiliation with other businesses like - “Opay”, “OFood”, ensuring people are able to order for cooked food online and such ordered foods is delivered promptly to their doorsteps.
By and large, the Local Guide program celebrates our diversity and also units us by what we have in common - the joy we have in exploring and trying new things!
