Hello fellow guides. I thought I would reach out and see if there were any other London / South East England guides around who would like to form a meetup and focus on mapping organisations that do social good?
I’m passionate about this with a specific flavour of wanting to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds get into highly creative jobs in digital marketing. It’s not a charity/NGO and so is a huge financial burden on me and it has been up and down since 2013 but is now resurrected as socialoutsourcing.org. 100% of the revenue under that model goes to the young people to help them change their lives.
Anyways, I digress. I’d like to see if we could form a group of Guides who share my passion to help those amazing organisations that help society in some real way. Not simple (and frankly almost worthless) ‘un-CSR’ programs that companies use to pay off their responsibilities to society but those that actually help in real ways.
I’m not sure how to do this. Not at all sure. But I think that if I can find a group of Google Guides in the area that care enough, we can find a way that will deliver Google what they want but also help to ‘promote’ organisations that do social good as a core value of their business.
If you are interested in having a meetup somewhere in London, or just have some thoughts on this, please message a response.
Let’s see what we can do to help society acknowledge and reward organisations that care.
Keep well, Prem
P.S. If we can crack the model here in and around London, no reason why we can’t extend it globally with Google’s help. If we get the model right, I have a lovely and warm suspicion that Google will help.
