Being a Local Guide to me means helping people, and the Local Guides Programs lets me do just that. Whether it’s fixing a wrong address or phone number, uploading a cool new photo or video, or even just leaving a review, I know that the information I’m sharing is helping someone else out on the other end.
Earning badges and keeping track of what I need to do next to Level Up fills my desire to win. Being a Local Guide offers me a sense of competition in a world of gamification. One of the first things I look at when reading a review is that person’s Level and what all they have done to help the Google Maps Community. Even though there’s no real Leader Board to refer to, I still strive to be number one in my town.
One of the first things I do when visiting a new town is checking out the local spots and seeing what suggestions Maps has got for me. As soon as I see if there’s anything I can add to the conversations. I believe this all helps the Maps Community and the businesses themselves.
It’s been about 8 years of contributing for me, and seeing new places pop up or adding them myself is still fun and exciting. It gives me a great sense of pride to share my maps, photos, and thoughts with family and friends all over the U.S. Something I enjoy doing with Local Guides more than any other platform. I can’t wait to earn more points and see my level go up another notch all while knowing I’m helping fellow Map Users at the same time. Here’s to another 8 years of mapping it up!
I’m excited to learn more about the Local Guides Community and its Family of Users, please leave any tips in the comments or just say hi! thanks.
