Remember the time when you went on a holiday, and you visited a certain place or a restaurant and it was just a waste of time and money?
That was a long time ago, a time where Local Guides were not there yet to review the whole world.
Life is busy nowadays, way too busy than it should be to really enjoy and appreciate this great life.
People just have little time to visit places, and imagine IF they had the time to finally go somewhere and it is a bad experience.
Thát is where we, Local Guides, are responsible for.
As a matter of fact, we are time management consultants.
We help people making the right decisions, we help people to improve their quality of life.
This is my biggest motivation, being there to improve people’s lives.
Even if I only help to influence a handful of people’s decisions, my mission is succeeded.
Last year, I had a Russian friend visiting me, telling me about the Local Guide program to help people by writing reviews for Google.
I was searching already for some time for a way to help humanity. As a New Years resolution, I decided to be a Local Guide as well.
To help influencing people to the maximum, I promised myself that every review should contain the following:
- Information of different aspects. For example in a restaurant I not only talk about the food, but I also talk about the decoration, the prices and the service.
- A recommendation. Again the restaurant example, I give a deep explanation of the food and I make a recommendation on what to take and not to take.
- Photos of different aspects. Not only taking photos of the food, but also pictures of the interior and exterior.
As you would expect from the above examples, food places are my favourite to review since you can touch so many different aspects in one review.
Personally I like to review in general the lesser known and mainly undiscovered places, where I really have the chance to convince people to go there.
I have to say, since I am a Local Guide, I became a better and more appreciating person.
It even became a certain kind of addiction, but definitely a good one!
What about you, did yóu change becoming a Local Guide? What changed?
Peace out,
Stephen from Antwerp, Belgium
