What does the Local Guides program mean to me?
In high school Mr. Eby (ee-bee) told me the internet was the body of human knowledge. OK, some parts of the internet don’t fall into that category, but the internet is certainly one massive representation of humanity in some way.
The Local Guides program is my way of adding more of humanity into that database. But not just in the sense that you catalogue something, as Local Guides we’re not just stenographers recording every bit of information… We’re curating our experiences, in a way that fosters more fantastic experiences for anyone who googles anything (which is everyone). Not to sound all philosophical… but I think we’re shaping the future of humanity in some ways!
I joined this Local Guides program for fun, but I find myself now proud to be part of this community, and constantly trying to be “better” - like the other local guides. I don’t know if most Local Guides know it, but we are pretty cool people. None of us are paid to do this, we just enjoy helping other people - and I can’t imagine a better community of people to be a part of honestly ?
