First af all, my and my boyfriend, we own small sushi bar in capital city. We pay attention on google reviews from our guests because, from our point of view it is the best way to get feedback from your customers.
Also, during my travel I always follow reviews from other people and visit atractions and restauranls, in general places which are high recommended by other local guides.
With google, the world is not unknow place, any more.
