I have had the awesome pleasure of being able to contribute as a Google Local Guide while traveling all over the country over the past 3 years.
Currently I am a Level 8 Local Guide pushing my way up that steep incline towards Level 10.
But there is another thing just as exciting and inspiring as being a Google Maps Local Guide, I have seen behind the curtain and helped capture as well as post imagery both in the past and currently active on Google Maps in the U.S.
I have been honored to do assignments as a Street View driver (2011, 2014-2016), a Trams Trekker (2016), a Special Collects Operator (2017-2019) and currently as a AR Camera Operator.
I have been able to visit all of the lower 48 steps during my past experiences providing localized edits and corrections told to me by local citizens as well as capture imagery of these situations so verify and correct errors and adjustments.
I would feel very blessed and honored if I could attend the Connect Live 2020 event in California to be a part of another segment of the Google Maps Family Tree and meet like minded people from all over the globe who have contributed, created and help mend our platform into the awesome application it is today.
Think my added experience out here in the field would be a great conversation starter to speak with someone from Europe, Asia, Australia and converse with them as we share our adventures with each other about our regions.
I know I have hundreds of stories from the few times people have left notes on my vehicle thanking us for what we do, shown people how to us the Google Maps app while out doing walks or just the pride we all have in making a difference online from someone lost, seeking or wanting information for a future adventure.
My adventures with Google Maps has given me so much as well as help me provide added content and verified results for so long, now it is time for me to give back.
Hope to see and meet with all of you in San Jose in October 2020, and if not, I will be out here contributing just like the first time I submitted a contribution to the World’s greatest Map app.
Boy! Do I have some stories…
