Local Guide Summit 2019

Hello my name is Jose and I write from Odessa Texas. I am proudly a leavel 7 local guide. I am a music promotor so I have the privilege to travel the U.S. and Mexico 50 weekends out of the year and I also work in the oil field during the week putting me in rural unmarked locations on Google maps. Being in the music industry since the age of 14 I have had the opportunity to travel and visit the lower 48 states; furthermore, I have also had the opportunity to visit every state in Mexico. In doing so I have been fortunate to experience many different culture, foods and a variety of customs. I wish I would have known of Local Guides sooner. Dinner around the family table has become extremely interacted. Being fortunate to travel so much I can now express and share my experiences with the entire world and not just with my wife. Hole in the wall places that don’t have the capital to promote there business but are food worthy now have the opportunity to get more traffic through the door and all just because a LOCAL GUIDE took the time to share there experience. Interaction around the Chavez dinner table has involved from cellphones and tables to interaction about the presentation of the meals the attention given or not by the staff and everyone give there option on there plate. It’s quite interesting when 2non my kids order the same item have completely different options on the dish. Working in the oil filed I am constantly looking for locations in rural areas off of the grid. It’s like a maze for me and when I find the remote location it gratifying that I was able to make it to my destination without a GPS. On that note it is extremely difficult for emergency responders and truck drivers working at night to find a location with no location on maps. An example of directions for in marked locations are (travel 50 miles west on I20 take a left travel 26.3 miles on county road 7, go .3 miles turn right, go 3 miles turn right. Keep going you will pass 3 cattle guards on the 3rd cattle guards go .4 miles turn right for 1.3 miles the location will be to the right.) I try and add new locations as much as possible but a vast majority of locations get declined to add as a new location on Google Maps do to the fact that names are so similar and in a close vicinity. We use names such as Diamondback Utah well A1 and Diamondback Utah well A2 so on and so on. Making finding a location in an emergency situation quite difficult in a life or death situation. I ask you and thank you for the opportunity to address this issue with tech support about adding locations and tags on maps with similar names and in close proximity. Thank you for your time and I wait impatiently for your invitation as I look forward to making a difference in Google maps.
