I have been actively looking for a meet-up in So-California
Is there one?
Or do I need to start one up?
im not to sure how to do that, if you have advice on how I do this I would greatly appreciate it.

Yes, you can definitely host your own meet up. To get you started, check out the meet up site, it has some ideas and resources. It is also the place for you to set up your meet up by inputting the details, date, time, location, etc. so that others in your area can find the meet up.
The LA community on G+ is active at times and does post some events there. You can also check that out for any upcoming meetups. You’ll find the community page here.
