Local Guide Me: Where There People Are Crazy About Food

【Why I Became A Local Guide】

I am from Taiwan. I am very into sharing in-person experiences with people, so I own a personal travel food blog where I used to share my stories. Since Google provides the space and tools (Google Map), that ‘emotional people’ like me are now possible to share reviews and ideas very easily, organizedly with the world and without location and language barriers. Being a Local Guide then happened.

【What I Post & Share】

I love sharing nature attractions on Google Map, but I even more love sharing FOOD with Google Map. From my experiences, to post genuine ideas on street foods or a restaurant, equals to create values to people because I noticed that Taiwanese are crazy about foods. With this background,

  • Google Map, isn’t just a Map.
  • It is a map made of voices and quality lifestyle.
  • As a foodie, you need it.
  • As a traveler & food blogger, you even need it.

I mostly contribute photos on Google Map, and my blog has connection with Google Map too. I want to make people feel “tasted” by only browsing my posts, so I enjoy studying others’ posts too. As a Local Guide, especially in an environment that people are 24 hours looking for restaurants, you got all of the reasons to contribute ideas on foods, and share you true comments on what people care about.

【What’s The 'Local Obligation’?】

I love sharing the missing information on Google Maps. I have given the first reviews and helpful photos to some new open hostels. I also created and advised information for a few local, traditional restaurants who don’t know how to do marketing for themselves. I want to make every business prosperous as long as they deserve it. On the other hand, people who are looking for foods or destinations could get the best results that match their needs. Once being a local guide, you are obligated to contribute.

【Proud To Be A Contributor】

“Sharing something” on Google Map is a 100% Win-Win-Win situation. So, WHY NOT?

Taking restaurants as an example.

  • For a restaurant owner, it’s free to get high quality exposure.
  • For a hungry man, it’s quick and bullet to get access to nearby restaurants.
  • For a traveler, it is a spirit to explore the unknown cuisine, to give reviews, and to be the next Local Guide.

Why proud? For being a part of the most precious value.

  • A Local Guide is building a community with millions of other ‘passionate volunteers’
  • Volunteering to provide their free but real comments
  • Ideas shared via a trustworthy platform operated by technology power, Google

There is an amazing balance: Values are created without Local Guides’ requiring something actually in return, but, all the information turns effective boundlessly and worldwide. Google and the Local Guides are one team that keeps making the world better off.
